Advanced Practice
I think it's about time to discuss multi-tasking during practice. I still think that I'm not really making any sort of how-to or instructional documentation here. What I would like to mention though, is that I've found a way to make my practice time a bit more complex. The second half of my practice time is spent doing scales. While I'm doing scales, I try to keep time in my mind. This may not sound like a big deal, but when you start to go faster it's a fairly good indication that you're able to keep things consistent. I think that just doing something in that area is going to improve my overall skill eventually. Without really thinking about it too much, I will have a sort of base that I'll be able to think back to. Additionaly, it's an enormous help with my hesitations. Unless you're playing sheet music, people rarely practice putting a pause into anything that they play, but it's obviously a part of music and it's a lot more difficult than you might expect until you try to practice it.
