Considerations
When I stumble into some money, my first investment is going to be a fret-less instrument. I guess this would be my first investment that may turn out to be completely useless because I can't play it at all. It's sort of a long term goal of mine to be able to play without the aid of frets. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I think it has something to do with knowing the scales extremely well. How else would you do it except by ear? Maybe people just sort of guess as to how they would play without frets. Anyway, that just leads to my even more long term goal of eventually being able to pick up a classical instrument like a standing bass and play that. Not only do you have to know fret-less, but you're also using a bow. I'm not sure how hard a bow is going to be, so I just sort of pretend that part will be easy. I guess the point of this post is to announce that I am on my way to having a good sense of what my scales should sound like, whatever that might mean.
