Getting Things Down

Now that I've started writing again, I'm finding it a lot harder than expected to not write.  This might not make a lot of sense, but it's actually working out quite well for me so far.  The secret is to have a time and a place for everything.  I feel that I need to mention this because there is obviously a use for doing a lot of writing even if it's not exactly in the "optimal" direction (more on this later?).  That's how you get better at what you do, if it's really something that you care about and want to do.  But, writing that you are setting aside to be part of a collection or a book, something that you want to get exactly right as it was could be scrutinized at some point, well, that you want to put some thought into.  You don't want to just write the first thing that pops into your head (although you can), you want to have some sort of plan or idea, even a vague one.  And of course after you've set it aside for a while, you'll need to go back and edit to make sure you didn't overlook anything.  So, when you start writing too much, this process can start to get weighed down a bit.  I've found this difficult, but I'm satisfied with what I have so far.
